Jesus Is Greater Than AllNäide

Jesus causes the world to continue
“He upholds the universe by the word of His power.” (Hebrews 1:3).
Seeing the world around me, it seems completely logical to me that it must have come into existence by some creative power. The Bible tells me it was created by the Lord God. The Bible also tells me that ever since creation, the universe is held together by Jesus Christ, “by the word of His power”. He is actively and purposefully controlling and maintaining all things. His powerful word causes everything to continue. That sounds amazing to me, since it seems like all kinds of natural processes just take place ‘naturally’, without someone actively controlling all this. The earth orbits the sun and rotates on its axis, causing the alternation between day and night, summer and winter, in seemingly never-ending cycles. The earth behaves in predictable ways, following the ‘laws of nature’ (for example, the law of gravity). But the Bible tells us that Jesus is behind this. Just as the world came into existence by God speaking (see Genesis 1), so creation holds together by the power of Jesus’ voice. He causes everything to continue till the end of time, when He will renew the earth.
Does today’s verse influence your view on the earth? In which ways?
