Promises in the PsalmsNäide

Promises: Clean and Clear
Let’s face it. We are most troubled when we act in disobedience. When we’ve decided that our way is best, chaos reigns, and anxiety is amplified! On any road trip away from God, our personal fear rides shotgun. But the fear of the Lord is different. The fear of the Lord is clean and clear, like a mountain spring flowing from a life that demonstrates refreshing obedience. The unpolluted life follows God’s Word.
Psalm 19:7-9
The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous.
Let me ask a few questions. Could it be that you are living in fear because you are not following God? Could it be that peace won’t come because practical obedience isn’t the pattern of your life? Could it be that disobedience is producing dread in your heart? Maybe it’s time to come home. On the road back, God will drive. You’ll ride shotgun, and personal fear will be packed away in the trunk.
Search me, O God, and show me my heart; test me and bring my anxious thoughts to the surface. Reveal my offensive ways and lead me in a path of purity that lasts forever. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
