If you've ever brought home a new dog or cat, it can take a while for them to adjust to a new environment. They might get extra hyper at night or have bathroom accidents inside the house. The same goes for us — well, we don't exactly get extra hyper and run around our house at night or not use the toilet when we need to use the bathroom. But being removed from the familiar — a place you feel safe and secure — can be incredibly shocking.
In the book of Jeremiah, God's people were in a situation just like that. Everything familiar had been taken away from them. They had actually been removed from the place that had given them safety and security. But in the midst of this loss, God tells them that he has plans for them — plans that will give them hope and a future. That's a pretty strong promise considering everything they've lost, but God can be trusted to keep His promises. When we feel as though all hope has been lost, we can trust that God's plan for us includes hope and a good future.
How can you trust God's plan when the future doesn't seem so bright?
