Through the Bible: 2 ThessaloniansNäide

Beware of the Deceiver
Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.
2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 (ESV)
Some believers in Thessalonian church had fallen into some false teachings that the return of Christ had already taken place. But Paul warned them that whoever gave this idea was a deceiver. Paul then reminded that at least two signs should have taken place before Jesus’ return. The first sign is the rebellion – many who claim to believe the gospel will reject the truth and commit sin.
The second sign is the revealing of the Antichrist. Paul called him "the son of destruction" because of his lawlessness. He will oppose and exalt himself against every so-called god or object of worship, proclaiming himself to be God.
As believers, we should all expect Jesus' return to be soon. However, we should also be watchful for these two signs that Paul stated here before the Second Coming. Therefore, we should be prepared for His coming every day and act according to what the Gospel has taught us.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your teaching today. May we all meditate on Your Word and grow in the knowledge of Your Word every day. May we bring more pre-believers to know the Gospel and prepare us to get ready for the return of Jesus. We pray all these in Your mighty name, Amen!

About this Plan

Shortly after sending the first letter to the Thessalonians that dealt extensively with eschatology, another letter forged in Apostle Paul’s name crept in the church, falsely claiming that Jesus had already returned, causing idleness and confusion among the believers. Paul promptly wrote this letter to rectify their distorted understanding concerning the return of Jesus and to remind the readers, including us, to stay positive and productive on a daily basis.
