John 1-3: A 12-Day Reading Plan Näide

Jesus is full of both grace and truth. This is excellent news for sinners. Why? Because truth without grace is cruel. On the other hand, grace without truth allows people to flounder in their sin and remain separated from God. But grace and truth says: “You have a sin problem that separates you from God—but by my grace I’ve made a way for you to be reconciled to the Father.” Paul wrote, for by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. EPHESIANS 2:8-9
In a sense, the gospel is bad news before it’s good news. The bad news is all people have a sin problem and have fallen short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23). Without Christ, there’s nothing we can do to improve our standing before God.
The good news is that God is full of grace, and we can be saved by grace through faith. And God’s grace isn’t a one-time offering—He gives grace upon grace—it includes our salvation, but it doesn’t stop there (John 1:16). God’s grace is an inexhaustible well that will never run dry.
In what areas of your life do you need God’s grace right now?
