Answering God’s Call The Lord’s instruction to Moses was clear, “make two silver trumpets.” One trumpet was to call the people to gather, the other to move forward, usually sounding the advance into battle. “You shall sound an alarm with the trumpets Hellip; and you will be saved from your enemies.” A people alerted to danger and aligned for battle are a formidable obstacle for any invading force. Paul warns that without a trumpet warning disaster is certain. “For if the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare for battle?” (1 Cor. 14:8). As God’s people hear the sounding of the trumpet of the Holy Spirit’s call to spiritual warfare, they prepare for the works of darkness. Moving in unity and prayer, they resist the attack of the devil. The Bible describes another trumpet in Revelation 11:15. This is the last trumpet, announcing once and for all that “the kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” Maranatha, Lord, come quickly. We wait to hear that last trumpet call of all.
