Going Deeper is designed for use with your small group, a friend or on you own. Its aim is to create time for you to spend with God and his word. Do as much or as little as you like. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact one of our pastoral staff.

1. Pray for the needs of your Life Group, for our church and our leaders, for personal and corporate renewal, and to allow God’s word to transform us.

2. This week, our Biblical text was Phil. 2:19-30, and the focus of the message was the values that God is looking for in His followers. What thoughts or questions did the message raise for you?

3. What character traits do you notice in those who have had a strong influence in your life? Which of those are present in your life?

4. What kind of man was Paul? Read Acts 16:6-38, which is the telling of Paul’s first visit to Philippi. Name as many character traits of Paul as you can as you read about his activities. Are there any that surprise you? Which ones are absolutely necessary in being a person of influence?

5. Looking back on your own transformation, share any verses or circumstances that have played a part in your spiritual growth.

6. Timothy and Epaphroditus are examples of men who demonstrated compassion, consistency, cooperation, commitment and courage. What evidence have noticed God developing those traits in you? Which one(s) do you want more of in your life? Pray for each other as you share.

7. Take a moment of silence to consider how God is speaking to you through this study. Is He asking you to make changes or to do something new? What concrete steps of response do you want to take? How can your group support you in these steps?
