Hurricane Michael left our neighboring cities in devastation. What overcomes you?
I CAN (AND WILL) overcome what overcomes me!
MIND MONSTERS are the negative thoughts and negative emotions that we ALL battle.
A lot of people that have MIND MONSTERS don’t even realize that do. It’s easier to see them in others than to detect or admit it personally.
“Before you can overcome a MIND MONSTER, you have to recognize it!”
Four Moves That Can Overcome What Overcomes You:
1. RECOGNIZE THE ENEMY
2. REJECT THE LIES
3. REPLACE THE NEGATIVE
4. RETRAIN THE BRAIN
RECOGNIZE THE ENEMY (MIND MONSTERS)
So if before you can overcome a MIND MONSTER you have to recognize it, then HOW do you recognize MIND MONSTERS in your life?
Here are 3 easy ways. Pay close attention to your:
1. Internal Dialogue
- How do you speak to yourself?
2. Moods
- Our feelings come from our thoughts & our thoughts start in our minds!
- Pay attention to your moods. MOOD = EMOTIONAL STATE
- Your mood is the spirit of your mind (Ephesians 4:23)
- Control them or they will control you!
3. Conversation
- Pay attention to the conversations that you have with people.
- Your words are POWERFUL...DEATH OR LIFE IS IN THE POWER OF THE TONGUE
- Do you spend more time criticizing or complementing people?
What lies are you believing...about yourself?
LIES WE BELIEVE:
- I am NOT good enough.
- I am LESS than….I DON’T MATTER.
- I DON’T belong.I am NOT loved.
- This is how it is ALWAYS going to be.
- I am NOT important.
- If they really knew me, they wouldn’t like me
- It was MY fault.
- I am NOT a good Mom.
- I am NOT a good Dad.
- I am so STUPID. I am NOT a man.
- No one will EVER love me.
- No one will EVER love me again.
- I am NOT valuable.
- I am NOT good enough.
- I am NOT pretty enough.
- I am NOT skinny enough.
- I am NOT smart enough.
- I am NOT cool enough.
- I will ALWAYS be single.
- I am NOT beautiful.
ALL LIES ORIGINATE FROM THE FATHER OF LIES!!!

LIES Lead To IDENTITY!
- LIES land.
- LIES land early. (start early in childhood)
- LIES label us.
- LIES linger.
- LIES last.
- LIES are so loud.
- LIES live large.
- LIES laugh at you.
STOP LISTENING TO THE LIES!!!

HOW DO I REJECT THE LIES? (3 Steps to take to REJECT the LIES)
1. LEARN the LIES!
- Ask God: What lies am I believing about myself?
Romans 8:6 NLT
So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
2. LIFT the LIES!
- What does God say about me?
John 8:32 NLT
“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Philippians 4:8 NLT
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

- Spread the LIES (generationally) or SHRED the LIES!!! (generationally)
