Matthew 16:13-18
Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” And they said, “Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.

I want you to see the spiritual characteristics of a God-moment in your life.
It’s a PERSONAL moment.
…He was asking His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” v. 13b
…He was asking His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” v. 13b
“Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” v. 13
“But who do you say that I am?” v. 15
“But who do you say that I am?” v. 15
Our Creator – the God of the universe wants us to know Him in a personal way.
“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
John 17:3
“This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
“This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
It’s a REVELATION moment.
Matthew 16:17
And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 16:17
And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.
This revelation is both the conviction and the confession of the Christian.
1 John 1:1-3
What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life— and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us— what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.

John 20:28
Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”
Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”
If you want to know Him, He will reveal Himself to you.
It’s a TRANSFORMATIONAL moment.
“Blessed are you…” v. 17
“Blessed are you…” v. 17
The word “blessed’ means “possessing God’s favor and being marked by His fullness.”
2 Peter 1:2-3
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.
