Introduction
Those who are born of God…
• Keep His commands—1 John 2:3-4; 3:24
• Walk in the same way Christ walked—1 John 2:5-6
• Are lovers, not haters—1 John 2:9; 3:14; 4:7-8, 20
• Love the Father, not the world—1 John 2:15
• Confess the Son and have Him—1 John 2:23; 4:15; 5:12
• Do what is right—1 John 2:29
• Do not continually practice sin—1 John 3:6, 9-10; 5:18
• Have the Holy Spirit—1 John 3:24; 4:13
• Listen to the Word—1 John 4:6
• Believe Jesus is the Messiah—1 John 5:1
• Overcome the world—1 John 5:4
• Believe Jesus is the Son of God—1 John 5:4-5
• Know that Jesus protects them from the evil one—1 John 5:18
John is affirming the purity of our lives, not perfection.
