Title: "We Can Experience the Joy of Our Salvation"
Scripture: 1 John 1:1-4; 5:11-13
Speaker: Dr. David H. McKinley, Pastor-Teacher
Introduction
• By this we know that we are in Him. (2:5)
• I have written to you, children, because you know the Father. (2:13)
• But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know. (2:20)
• I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it. (2:21)
• We know that when He appears, we shall be like Him. (3:2)
• We know that we have passed out of death into life. (3:14)
• We shall know by this that we are of the truth. (3:19)
• And we know by this that He abides in us. (3:24)
• By this you know the Spirit of God. (4:4)
• By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us. (4:13)
• By this we know that we love the children of God. (5:2)
• We know… we know… we know. (5:18-20)
—Dr. Steven Lawson

“Salvation can be known because of what is written in God’s Word, given by God’s grace, and realized faith in Christ and Christ alone.”
“To be assured of our salvation is no arrogant stoutness. It is faith. It is devotion. It is not presumption. It is God’s promise.” —Augustine
“It is our privilege to KNOW that we are saved.” —Dwight L. Moody
How Can We Know?
Three Ways We Can Know the Joy of Salvation:
1. The Assurance of Christ’s Work for Us = JUSTIFICATION
He is the one who took God’s wrath against our sins upon Himself, and brought us into fellowship with God; and He is the forgiveness for our sins, and not only ours but for all the world’s. —1 John 2:2 (Living Bible)
Three Ways We Can Know the Joy of Salvation:
2. The Evidence of the Spirit’s Work in Us = SANCTIFICATION
Three Ways We Can Know the Joy of Salvation:
3. The Confidence of the Word’s Witness to Us = GLORIFICATION
Do YOU Know?
