Going Deeper is designed for use with your small group, a friend or on you own. Its aim is to create time for you to spend with God and his word. Do as much or as little as you like. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact one of our pastoral staff.
1. Pray for the needs of your Life Group, for our church and our leaders, for personal and corporate renewal, and to allow God’s word to transform us. Share a recent entry from your Life Journal with the group.
2. This Sunday, the message was the first in aseries focusing on Questions Jesus Asked. What thoughts or questions did the message raise for you? Which thoughts or points encouraged you orposed a challenge to you?
3. Read Luke 7:36-50. What stands out to you about each of the characters – Simon, the woman, Jesus, and the other guests? With which of them do you identify most?
4. If such an exhibition of love took place during a service here at Glencairn, how would you feel? How would you react or respond?
5. Reflect on your own life and consider your personal evidence of “being forgiven much resulting in loving much.”
6. Read 1 Timothy 1:3-7. What is the contrast Paul makes with regards to centred and grounded on love vs. debates over peripheral doctrinal questions? How does he describe this love in v.5? What words would you use to describe the fullness of love in a believer’s life?
7. How does the kind of love Paul extols in Timothy show itself at Glencairn and in our interactions at home, at work, and in the community? What are the expressions of this kind of love in your own life with Jesus?
8. Take a moment of silence as you consider your response to Jesus’ question- Which of them will love him more? How does this question lead you to a deeper understanding of Jesus? How does this question encourage your own relationship with Jesus? How does this question and your answer help you in your conversation and relationships with others – believers or not?
