Jeremiah 23:36
Jeremiah 23:35-36 The Message (MSG)
“Instead of claiming to know what GOD says, ask questions of one another, such as ‘How do we understand GOD in this?’ But don’t go around pretending to know it all, saying ‘God told me this . . . God told me that. . . . ’ I don’t want to hear it anymore. Only the person I authorize speaks for me. Otherwise, my Message gets twisted, the Message of the living GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies.
Jeremiah 23:36 King James Version (KJV)
And the burden of the LORD shall ye mention no more: for every man's word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God.
Jeremiah 23:36 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
For you will no longer remember the oracle of the LORD, because every man’s own word will become the oracle, and you have perverted the words of the living God, the LORD of hosts, our God.
Jeremiah 23:36 New Century Version (NCV)
But you will never again say, ‘The message of the LORD,’ because the only message you speak is your own words. You have changed the words of our God, the living God, the LORD All-Powerful.
Jeremiah 23:36 American Standard Version (ASV)
And the burden of Jehovah shall ye mention no more: for every man’s own word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of Jehovah of hosts our God.
Jeremiah 23:36 New International Version (Anglicised) (NIVUK)
But you must not mention “a message from the LORD” again, because each one’s word becomes their own message. So you distort the words of the living God, the LORD Almighty, our God.
Jeremiah 23:36 New King James Version (NKJV)
And the oracle of the LORD you shall mention no more. For every man’s word will be his oracle, for you have perverted the words of the living God, the LORD of hosts, our God.
Jeremiah 23:36 Amplified Bible (AMP)
For you will no longer remember the oracle of the LORD, because every man’s own word will become the oracle, [for as they mockingly call all prophecies oracles, whether good or bad, so will it prove to be to them; God will take them at their own word]; and you have perverted the words [not of a lifeless idol, but] of the living God, the LORD of hosts, our God.
