For the Music Director. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.
1Answer me when I call,
O God of my righteousness!
You have given me relief when I was in distress; # Job 36:16
have mercy on me, and hear my prayer. # Ps 17:6
2O people, how long will you turn my glory into shame? # Ps 3:3
How long will you love vanity and seek after lies? # Ps 5:6    Selah
3Know that the Lord set apart the faithful for Himself;
the Lord hears when I call to Him.
4Tremble in awe, and do not sin. # Eph 4:26
Meditate within your own heart on your bed, # Ps 77:6
and be still.   Selah
5Offer sacrifices of righteousness, # Dt 33:19
and trust in the Lord. # Ps 37:3
6There are many who say, “Who will show us any good?”
Lord, let the light of Your countenance shine upon us. # Nu 6:26; Ps 80:7
7You have placed gladness in my heart, # Isa 9:3
more than when their grain and new wine abound.

for You, Lord,
make me dwell safely and securely. # Lev 25:18–19
