3Then Job answered the Lord and said:
4“Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer You?

yes, twice, but I will proceed no further.” # Job 33:14; Ps 62:11

6Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said: # Job 38:1
7“Prepare yourself now like a man;
I will question you,
and you will answer Me. # Job 38:3; 42:4
8“Will you indeed annul My judgment?
Will you condemn Me, that you may be righteous? # Job 32:2
9Have you an arm like God? # Ps 89:13
Or can you thunder with a voice like Him? # Job 37:4–5
10Adorn yourself now with majesty and excellence, # Ps 93:1
and array yourself with glory and beauty.
11Let loose the rage of your wrath,
and look on everyone who is proud and abase him; # Isa 2:11–12; Da 4:37
12look on everyone who is proud and bring him low,
and tread down the wicked in their place. # Job 36:20; Isa 63:3

that your own right hand can save you.
15“Look now at the behemoth
which I made along with you;
he eats grass like an ox.
16Behold, his strength is in his hips,
and his power is in the muscles of his belly.
17He moves his tail like a cedar;
the sinews of his thighs are wrapped together.
18His bones are like strong pieces of brass;
his bones are like bars of iron.
19He is the first of the works of God;
He who made him can bring near His sword.
20Surely the mountains bring forth food for him, # Ps 104:14
where all the beasts of the field play. # Ps 104:26
21He lies under the shady trees,
in the thicket of the reed and marsh.
22The shady trees cover him with their shadow;
the willows of the brook surround him.
23Behold, the river rages, but he is not alarmed;
he trusts that he can draw up the Jordan # Ge 13:10 into his mouth.
24Can anyone catch it by its eyes,
or pierce its nose with a snare?
