2He also defeated Moab. He measured them with a length of rope, forcing them to lie down on the ground. He measured two lengths of rope to be put to death, but the entirety of one length he allowed to live. So the Moabites became subject to David, # Nu 24:17 bearing tribute. # 2Sa 8:6
3David also defeated Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, # 1Sa 14:47; 2Sa 10:16 when he went to restore his authority over the Euphrates River. 4David seized from him one thousand seven hundred horsemen and twenty thousand foot soldiers, and David hamstrung all of the chariot horses, # Jos 11:6, 9 save those for a hundred chariots.

The Lord helped David wherever he went. # 2Sa 7:9
7David took the shields of gold that were issued to the servants of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem. 8From Betah # 8:8 Tibhath in 1Ch 18:8. and Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, # 1Ch 18:8 King David took great quantities of bronze.
9When Toi king of Hamath # 1Ki 8:65 heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer, 10Toi sent his son Joram to King David to greet him and bless him on account of his fighting with Hadadezer and his defeat of him, for Hadadezer was an opponent of Toi. Joram brought with him implements of silver, gold, and bronze, 11which King David dedicated to the Lord along with the silver and gold # 1Ki 7:51 that he dedicated from all of the nations that he had subdued, 12that is, from Aram, # 8:12 Possibly Edom. Cf. 2Sa 8:14, 1Ch 18:11–13, Gk, Syr. See also note for v. 13. Moab, the Ammonites, # 2Sa 10:14 the Philistines, Amalek, and the plunder from Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah.
13So David made a name for himself # 2Sa 7:9 upon his return from defeating eighteen thousand Arameans # 8:13 Possibly Edomites. Cf. 2Sa 8:14, 1Ch 18:11–13, Gk and Syr. in the Valley of Salt. # 2Ki 14:7
14He set up garrisons in Edom. Throughout all of Edom, he set up garrisons, and all of Edom became subject to David. # Ge 25:23; 27:29 The Lord helped David wherever he went.
