HIS PATHWAY: I want to follow Jesus The Samaritan woman. Nicodemus. Mary. Martha. Thomas. Peter. Beloved disciple. Andrew. Judas. The crowds. All wanted to follow Jesus and become like Him in everything. But the more they followed Jesus, the more they discovered His pathway is very different from their own paths. Some of them who initially followed Him eagerly, were soon disappointed with his methods and gave up along with the way. Some of them were disappointed when Jesus refused to follow their selfish pathways and they signed out of the race. An enthusiastic follower of Christ who has experienced the PRESENCE of Christ and believed in the PERSON of Christ, chooses to follow the PATHWAY of Christ alone. Peter and the beloved disciple are two excellent models of what it means to follow Jesus...ALL THE WAY. Firstly, following Jesus is based on a love relationship with Jesus. You love Him absolutely and you are willing to obey Him in everything. Secondly, following Jesus causes you to die to your own methods and plans. You seek His plan and methods above yours. Finally, following Jesus inspires you to lead others to follow Jesus. It's not just about you anymore, but passionately seeking to lead others on a journey of following Jesus. As you start the study of the gospel of John, ask yourself, what are the COMMANDS of Jesus you are invited to follow that reveals eternal life in His name? The pathway to follow Jesus is possible when you love Him passionately and faithfully obey His commands in our daily lives. Do you desire to follow Him and faithfully obey His footsteps today?
