Put on your new self Most people have that old T-shirt or pair of shoes they can’t get rid of because they are just so comfortable and familiar. But do you remember when you’ve gone out to get a new T-shirt or pair of shoes? You put them on and then see yourself in the mirror and think, “Wow that looks good!”. Even if they are not completely comfortable, you’re committed to wearing them in. Soon enough they are your new favourite. The change that we are referring to in the Christian often starts on the inside and works its way out, causing us to act, respond and be different. Some people say that their family and friends won’t recognise them. But now and again we want to put on that old shirt because it used to feel so comfortable, when what we actually need to do is throw it away. Old habits and ways of living need to be thrown out of our cupboards and houses. Do you have any old ‘clothes’- habits or attitudes- that need to be thrown away so that you can wear the new self that Jesus has bought for you?
