DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
Icebreaker - What’s something you originally thought, “I don’t really need that,” but once you experienced it, you wondered how you ever lived without it?

1. The sermon emphasized, “There is more”—salvation is the beginning of our spiritual journey, not the end. Where are you most encouraged or challenged by the idea that God still has more He wants to do in you and through you?

2. Read John 20:19–22 and Acts 1:4–8. What stands out to you about Jesus telling His disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit’s power before stepping into the mission He had given them?

3. Water baptism was compared to a wedding ring—it doesn’t create the relationship, but publicly declares the relationship that already exists. Why do you think publicly identifying ourselves with Jesus is an important step in following Him?

4. In Acts 8:12–17, the sermon pointed to three distinct experiences: believing in Jesus, water baptism, and receiving the Holy Spirit’s empowering presence. What does this passage teach us about the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer?

5. Acts 1:8 connects the power of the Holy Spirit with being Jesus’ witnesses. How might our approach to serving, sharing our faith, or living out our calling change if we truly believed we weren’t expected to do it in our own strength?

6. The message closed with three responses: remove the barriers, request the gift of the Holy Spirit, and receive God’s gifts by faith. Which of those three feels like the most important next step for you right now, and what might it look like to act on it this week?
