Love came down
This is a passage you may be very familiar with but take time today to open your heart and read Luke 2 with fresh eyes. On a quiet night in Bethlehem, love broke through. Not in a way the world was expecting... not to kings, but to shepherds – ordinary people just going about their every day.
The angel’s message was clear: God’s love has come near, wrapped in the form of a newborn child and declaring, ‘Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased’ (v14 NLT).
Christmas is the celebration of this divine love made visible to us in Jesus. And this love is for all people. The forgotten, the weary, the broken-hearted, the frustrated, the hardworking, the faithful and the hopeful. It reminds us that God’s love reaches into every corner of our lives.
This love and peace Jesus brings is not merely the absence of conflict – it’s the presence of Christ. It’s the assurance that we’re loved, known and never alone. Jesus came with a love that speaks through the quiet moments and shines through the darkest nights.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus. This advent season help me anew your perfect love for me. Help me receive that love fully and share it freely with others. May Your peace fill my heart this Christmas and always. Amen.

“This Christmas season let’s remember that God’s promises are not like ours – fragile and sometimes forgotten – but are firm, fulfilled and forever. In every wrapped gift, flickering Christmas tree light and sung carol, may we see a reflection of the ultimate gift: Jesus, the righteous branch – our everlasting hope.” (The Promise of a Righteous Branch – Robbie Parkin)
