The Pursuit - 12 Weeksنموونە

Paul reminds believers in Colossians 2:12 that “you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.”
Notice the connection: baptism and faith go hand in hand. Baptism without faith is just getting wet. But baptism with faith is a powerful outward symbol of an inward transformation.
Think about the symbols we use every day. A wedding ring doesn’t make you married — it represents the commitment you’ve made. A national flag isn’t just cloth — it represents a whole nation’s identity. Baptism works the same way. It’s not the water that changes you; it’s the reality behind it. But because symbols are powerful, baptism helps you (and others) see your identity in Christ more clearly.
That’s why baptism is public. It’s a way of telling the world, “My life belongs to Jesus.” And in making that declaration, you’re also reminding yourself that your identity is no longer found in your job, your past, or your failures. You are defined by Christ, raised to new life in him.
Reflection:
What does baptism as a public symbol communicate to others about your faith in Jesus?
