Living Thankful, Living Sober

ڕۆژی3 لە 5

Giving thanks goes beyond being grateful for the things we have in life. Thankfulness, at its core, is worship. Every time we pause to give thanks, we’re not only recognizing the gift but honoring the Giver. Gratitude lifts our eyes off ourselves and reminds us that every good thing in our lives is a gift from God.

Remember the story in Luke 17, when Jesus healed ten men with leprosy? Only one of them came back to thank Him, his gratitude drawing him closer to the heart of God. The other nine who had been cleansed accepted the gift without thanking the Giver, therefore never building their relationship with Jesus.

Sometimes, it’s easy to wonder how often we’re like the nine who kept walking. God shows up, answers prayers, provides in ways big and small, and sometimes we forget to stop and say thanks. But when we do, when we take the time to turn back to Him with a grateful heart, it becomes worship. It’s our way of saying, “God, I know this was You. I know I need You. And I honor You for it.”

Reflection Questions:

  • When was the last time you stopped to thank God for something specific He’s done for you?
  • How might your gratitude become an act of worship today?

Prayer: Lord, thank you for all the gifts You have given me. Forgive me for the times I’ve received Your blessings without pausing to give thanks.
