Africa and the Bible From a to Zنموونە

A Is for Apollos
Read, or have older children find and read, Acts 18:24-28. Then read the following story with your children.
Apollos was an Egyptian man who came from the city of Alexandria. He was very clever and knew the Old Testament well. He spoke to crowds of people to tell them the true stories he knew about Jesus. Later, two of his friends, Priscilla and Aquila, told him how God had sent not only his Son Jesus but also the Holy Spirit. He was so excited! After that, Apollos travelled to Asia and Europe and taught many people about Jesus. Some people think that Apollos wrote the book of Hebrews, which is part of the New Testament. God used Apollos from Africa to help new churches grow in different countries. Someday, God may use you to help your church grow, too, or even to start new churches in other countries!
Questions to ask your children
1. Can you find Egypt on a map? Can you find the city of Alexandria in Egypt?
2. Who were the friends who taught Apollos about Jesus?
3. Can you find Asia and Europe on the map?
Prayer
Ask God to use you to tell others about Jesus.
