30 Days of Praying for Children and Familiesنموونە

At first, these words might feel like a strong rebuke from Jesus – and we might feel our guard going up.
But remember Jesus’ gentleness and kindness – he says these words because he cares about us.
Jesus can’t be saying we shouldn’t be concerned with the everyday things of today – we know he was willing and able to feed 5000, to heal sickness, and cast out demons!
What he is saying is: make sure your priorities are in order. Don’t worry unnecessarily about things that only distract. It isn’t that these things aren’t important, or that they don’t deserve attention – we know that being a parent or carer naturally means you have a lot on your mind! But it is important that we keep the right perspective.
What’s his number one priority? ‘Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness.’ (Matthew 6:33)
If only we were to gaze upwards, to strive for his kingdom, not our own comfort. What might need re-ordering in your life, in order to keep pursuing God’s kingdom and righteousness?
Prayer
As you go about your day – with household tasks, life admin, and work to focus on, keep your heart fixed on this verse: ‘Seek first his kingdom and righteousness.’
Every time you find yourself worrying about small or big things, practise saying that verse to yourself.
Whisper it under your breath or shout it aloud. As you do, simply pray: ‘your kingdom come’.
Ask God to establish his kingdom here in your town, on your street, and in your community.
