Day 24: Sacraments: Encounters with Christ
As Catholics, we are a sacramental people. The sacraments anchor our weeks from Eucharist to Eucharist and frame our lives from baptism to funeral. They are not empty rituals; they are real encounters with Christ.
The Eucharist is “the source and summit” of the Christian life. In it, we receive the very Body and Blood of Christ, nourishing us for the journey of discipleship. Baptism welcomes us into God’s family, confirmation strengthens us in the Spirit, reconciliation heals us, anointing restores us, marriage unites us, and holy orders equip leaders to serve.
When we celebrate the sacraments with faith, we encounter the living God. They are where His grace touches our lives in tangible ways. Practicing prayer and celebrating the sacraments together form the core of our life as disciples.
Questions
- Which sacrament has been most meaningful in your life so far? Why?
- How can you prepare your heart more intentionally for Mass this week?
