Rooted: 30 Days to Strengthen Your Faith Through Struggleنموونە

WEEK 3: Nourishing the Roots
Focus: Developing spiritual practices and a renewed mind to strengthen your identity in Christ.
Day 17: The Power of Scripture Over Emotion
"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit... it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." Hebrews 4:12
Your emotions are valid - but they’re not always true.
They can alert you, inform you, even move you to action. But they should never be the loudest voice in the room. They shouldn't be the decision maker or lead how you respond.
Our initial feelings as humans often carry with them the echo of past wounds. The propensity towards offence. They don't necessarily reflect the reality of the current situation.
God’s Word was never meant to invalidate your feelings - but rather guide your emotions in a way that brings you back to the truth of God's Word.
Hebrews 4:12 reminds us that the Word of God isn’t a some history book with interesting stories. It’s alive. Active. Precise. It cuts through the noise of fear, shame, anxiety, and anger to reveal what’s really going on beneath the surface.
When your feelings scream, “I’m not valuable,” Scripture whispers, “You are fearfully and wonderfully made.”
When your heart says, “God has left me,” Scripture declares, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
When shame tells you to hide, Scripture invites you to come boldly before the throne of grace.
But we can’t fight lies with truth we don’t know.
Make it a habit to fill your mind with Scripture so when emotions rise, you can respond in faith instead of reacting in fear.
Practice the pause and ask yourself, "What is true? What response aligns with God's word?"
Your feelings may be loud, but they’re not Lord. Let the Word take its rightful place.
Reflection Questions:
- What emotion has been overwhelming your decisions?
- How can Scripture help guide your next step?
- What truth do you need to cling to today?

We often view struggle as a bad thing to be avoided. Who wants pain, right? But what if it's in the struggle that God does some of his best refining work? What if it's in the struggle we are strengthened for the journey ahead? Jesus told us we would have trials - but we can take heart because we never walk the valley's alone. Join me for 30 days as we travel through scripture and strengthen our faith together in the face of struggle.
