Devotional for Postgraduate Studentsنموونە

Why Are You Doing This Postgraduate Course?
More accolades. Letters after your name. One degree hotter.
Access to greater opportunities.
Higher earning potential.
Whatever your ‘why’, submit it to God. Ask Him to reveal His purpose for your academic pursuit. Don’t start something without the Author and Finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2, NKJV). Scripture says He who began a good work in you will carry it through to completion. Not He who you call upon only after you’ve already made the plan (Philippians 1:6).
But thank God for Grace. It’s not too late to invite Him into your journey. Ask Him to reveal His purpose, whether you’re just beginning or nearing the end. Your course is not in vain.
As Myles Munroe famously said, “Where the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable.” If you don’t understand your “why,” discouragement can derail you. But when your purpose is anchored in revealing God’s glory and excellence, you’ll endure, even when it gets tough.
Ecclesiastes 9:11 (NIV) humbles us: “The race is not to the swift…nor wealth to the brilliant…nor favour to the learned”. Success is not guaranteed simply by your postgraduate degree. Opportunities (”time and chance”) are all around us, but we need discernment to identify the right ones, boldness to pursue them, and wisdom to be positioned for them.
Reflect: What is your “why”, and have you submitted it to God?
