For You – For Everyone
“All for one, one for all” – this motto from Alexandre Dumas’ The Three Musketeers describes a profound truth: true community stands up for one another. Each individual supports the others and is supported by them in return. This principle is not only powerful in literature, but also deeply biblical, because it reflects what we as Christians are called to do.
In the Bible, we are called a royal priesthood (cf. 1 Peter 2:9). We are not lone warriors, but part of God's holy community. As such, we are members of his “task force” on earth, sent to bring light and hope. Each of us has a role to play; each of us is important. Our task is to strengthen one another—not only in Sunday worship, but in the midst of everyday life. Not by our own strength, but by the power of Jesus.
It is his love that holds us together. It binds us together like a strong rope made of three strands (cf. Ecclesiastes 4:12). It is tear-resistant, even when storms rage. This love transforms individuals into a community, weak members into a strong body, and where we act out of this love, change happens.
In the Book of Acts, we read how the church prayed for Peter when he was in prison (cf. Acts 12). Their prayers moved heaven, and God sent an angel to free Peter. What a picture! A praying church is a powerful church. A praying community takes spiritual ground. Not through loudness or power, but through humility, faith, and unity.
Jesus himself prayed for this unity shortly before his crucifixion (cf. John 17:23). He knew that when we are one, the world will recognize that God is real. That is why we live in the Word, in prayer, in encouragement, and in teaching. We are rooted in Christ (cf. Acts 17:28). And through him, we can be part of something greater: one body, many members, but one heartbeat. For Jesus is for you and for all of us.
Next steps: Is there a Bible verse that particularly strengthens you today? Perhaps it is not only for you, but also for someone in your church. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you who you should intercede for in prayer today.
