God's Promises About Following Christ
At the risk of sounding a bit like a Shakespeare play, there are two ways to live in this world: to do and to be. When we fit ourselves into the culture and act like everyone else, that’s us doing the doing. But letting the Lord lead us through culture and loving everyone around us: that’s Him doing the transforming.
It’s a bit like driving a car versus being a passenger. We can take the wheel and be responsible for all the road hazards and safe driving, or we can enjoy the scenery and go where He takes us.
Either way, things get done. The question is, whose things, in what order, and according to which agenda? God’s path is always the best and most enjoyable!
Following Christ isn’t something that can be done halfheartedly or on the side. It is not a label we can display when it is useful. It must be central to everything we do and are.
