Attribute #10 - Perfection

Be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48).

We live in an imperfect world; however, we serve a great and perfect God. Psalm 145:1-3, tells us that God's “greatness is unsearchable”. The Hebrew noun translated “unsearchable” conveys to make an inquiry, something to be tracked down or searched out. Isaiah applies the term to the Father’s perfect nature and perfect understanding, the perfection that provides power to the weak (Isaiah 40:28-29). There is an intricate link between God’s perfect person and helping the imperfect.

Since God’s nature is perfect, His works are perfect. Psalm 145:4-17 emphasizes the perfection of God’s works, which are marked by grace, compassion, righteousness, and mercy. David expresses that the Lord’s perfect nature governs His benevolent work (Psalm 145:8–9), and His generosity flows from His divine essence, satisfying the desires of every living thing (Psalm 145:16). Contemplating, verbally communicating, and journaling about the Lord’s perfection are an excellent use of one’s time.

Even as God’s work is perfect, so God’s way is perfect. David, a man after God's own heart, declares, "As for God, His way is perfect" (2 Samuel 22:31). David's journey, filled with battles and challenges, reflects God's perfect way. Despite facing giants like Goliath, David's faith in God led to victory (2 Samuel 22:33).

Trusting in God’s ways, which are higher than human understanding (Isaiah 55:8–9), is essential for spiritual growth and victory over life’s challenges. Solomon, in Proverbs 3:5-6, testifies to the Almighty governing our path (way) when we wholeheartedly rely upon Him.

Truly the Lord is perfect. His work is perfect, His way is perfect, and His Word is perfect. Just as Solomon understands the necessity to depend upon the God whose way is perfect, the psalmist Agur knows our protection comes from the God who is true to His Word (Proverbs 30:5). Scripture, described as eternal, pure, and unchanging (Psalm 119:89, Matthew 24:35), serves as the foundation for understanding God’s perfection and living in alignment with His will.

Employment Point: God’s work is perfect, God’s way is perfect, God’s Word is perfect.
