Jesus’ Trial, Death and Resurrection (As Recorded by John)نموونە

The climax of Jesus' mission
“When Jesus had spoken these words, He went out with His disciples across the brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which He and His disciples entered. Now Judas, who betrayed Him, also knew the place.” (John 18:1-2)
The Lord Jesus came to earth to announce and explain the good news of God's salvation. He did so for about three years, and His message was accompanied by miracles. But the most decisive part of His mission took place at the end of His time on earth. About this, Jesus said, “Father, the hour has come.” This was to be the turning point in human history.
So, what exactly was Jesus' mission? He was to “save the world” (John 12:47), and in order to do so, “the ruler of this world" had to be cast out. (John 12:31) This "ruler" was God's adversary, Satan. Jesus had to fight him. It would cost Him everything. He would sacrifice His life for it.
The Lord Jesus was dreading this moment. But He knew that He had come to earth for this very purpose. Therefore, He did not flee, but went with His disciples to a garden outside the city where His enemies could capture Him. They would be aided by Judas, one of Jesus' long-time followers who was now betraying Him.
The most dramatic day in history had begun. Over the next few days, let's see how Jesus carried out His mission to the end.
I consider Jesus' mission “the turning point in human history.” Do you also see it that way, or do you think other events made more impact? Which ones?
