Lasting Legacy—5 Lessons From the Life of Luis Palau

DAY 4 OF 5

## The hope we all need. The Gospel Luis Palau presented was simple. He didn’t sugarcoat it. He didn’t leave out the salt. The amazing thing is that the Gospel has a power of its own to change and soften hearts—even to transform a culture! Romans 1 says it is the power of God for our salvation. It contains the hope we all need because we cannot save ourselves. Hope for the future, a better day to come. Hope for the present, a friend in Jesus. Hope for joy no matter our circumstances. Hope for a second, third, and fourth chance, no matter how many times we mess up! Hope for a beautiful eternity spent in the face-to-face presence of God. The Gospel brings the Good News of hope that so many people are already hungry for. Luis knew it wasn’t his job to brilliantly persuade people, merely to joyfully present Jesus's offer to us all. Nothing fancy, just the truth. He used to say, “Proclaiming the Gospel doesn’t mean walking around with a sermon prepped and stuffed into your back pocket. It’s much simpler than that. It’s my mother, smiling and sharing the truth over steaming coffee in her house in Argentina. It’s just saying the Good News: “God loves you. He has a plan for your life. If you are honest enough to repent and believe, you will be forgiven and become a child of God. He will never leave you, He will live within you, and when you die, you will go to heaven.” That’s a pretty good deal. Why not proclaim it? Who do you think God might want you to share the Gospel with? Will you take a moment to ask Him? Let’s pray: Lord, I know the Gospel is too great a treasure to keep to myself. Will You show me how You’re preparing me to spread the Good News? Show me who You want me to share with, and stir my heart with compassion to speak the truth in love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
