If you’ve ever been on a flight at night, you know that if you look down after take-off, you’ll see hundreds of little lights lining the runway. You probably know those are not Christmas lights; they light the runway so flights can take off and land safely through the night.
The Bible is much like those small lights illuminating the runway of our lives. It’s not a bright spotlight forcing our attention. It is clear, though, and it provides direction in every season. Sometimes, we’ll be reading a passage and find that it connects to what we’re currently experiencing. Other times, we’ll find that the passage we’re reading may not directly connect with us, but the wisdom we gain is valuable. And as we consistently engage the Bible with prayer, we gain a fuller understanding of what God wants us to see.
Do you see God’s word as an “in case of emergency” go-to or a daily rhythm? Consider how you can take steps toward incorporating the Bible into your daily habits.
