Confidence for the New Yearنموونە

Safe in God’s hand
It could not have been easy for King David to write this: “Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there” (Psalm 139:7,8). God was there when David stood on his roof and took Bathsheba with his eyes before he took her with his arms. God was there when David had Uriah killed. God had witnessed it all firsthand. As David said, “You are there.”
But it’s this miracle of God’s grace that filled David with such confidence. When he put himself in the darkest depths of danger, God did not leave him. Even when David wanted to be left alone—even when God had every reason to abandon him—God never left him.
Do you know where this next year will find you? You certainly do: “If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast” (Psalm 139:9,10). No matter where you go in the next year, you will never face a danger alone. Not even your sins can take you to a place where God will not be there. Whether you are in a car accident or at a birthday party or in a wedding or at a hospital, you never have to doubt where you will really be: with your Lord and Savior, held in his loving and protecting hand.
