Abiding With God in the Heartache and the Joyنموونە

Preparing our Heart
I love reading God’s word. The more I immerse myself in the Scriptures, the more I lose myself in God’s abiding love, in his ways and his laws.
The Old Testament informs the New Testament, for it reveals God’s consistency as shown through the Psalms, the Prophets, and God’s Law of love given to God’s people.
May we observe what we learn and teach others. Those who teach are said to learn twice.
The more I dwell in God’s word, the more I understand the relationship between God’s justice, mercy, and grace. As it is said, “Justice is getting what you deserve. Mercy is not getting what you deserve. And grace is getting what you absolutely don’t deserve.’’
As someone who trained as a lawyer, God’s law is the measure by which I hold up our laws and standards, including the ones I set for myself. I keep seeking God’s forgiveness because, in my brokenness, I am drawn to the easy path.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, may your gracious hand be upon me, my family, my place of work, my community, my city and my nation. May your grace and your hand be mine and their standard. Amen.
