Advent

DAY 12 OF 25

Day 12: The Voice in the Wilderness

Reflection:

John the Baptist is not the Light, but he bears witness to the Light. His call to repentance remains the rhythm of Advent. As those who proclaim the coming again of Jesus, we have been given a royal duty, to be a voice for righteousness: “Make straight the way of the Lord!”

Just as John pointed not to himself, but to Jesus, we too must reflect on what it means to bear witness.

As we move forward in the Advent season, our focus should be to shift everything from ourselves to the expectant Savior. It may seem odd to many of us, living in this highly individualistic age, where everything seems geared toward my own happiness and well-being. But the good news of Advent is that it’s not about us! It is about the one whose sandals we are unworthy to untie. And this means we are left only with the job of submitting ourselves to Him and of guiding the lost to repentance with us into the waters of baptism.

Meditation:

What do you need to repent of this season? Who may the Father be urging you to call to repentance?

About this Plan

Advent

Advent is more than a countdown to Christmas. It is a season of holy waiting, of longing in the dark for the Light that is coming. We not only look back to the manger, but forward to Christ’s return in glory. Advent trains our hearts to be awake and expectant, anchoring us in the hope of God’s promises. This 25-day plan invites you to slow down, reflect, and rediscover the meaning of Advent. Together we will journey through Scripture, prayer, and meditation, remembering that the coming of Jesus is not sentimental tradition, but a world-shaking reality.
