Five Signs You're Saved

Devotion: John wrote his first letter so believers could know—with certainty—that they have eternal life (1 John 5:13). He gives clear tests. Here are five:

1. You obey God's commands (1 John 2:3-4). Not perfectly, but progressively. You want to obey. When you sin, you repent. Obedience is your pattern, not rebellion.

2. Your life is changing (2 Corinthians 5:17). Old things are passing away. You're different. Not perfect, but transformed. You hate sins you used to love. You love things you used to ignore.

3. You love other believers (1 John 3:14). You want to be around God's people. You care about their growth. You forgive, serve, and sacrifice for the body of Christ.

4. The Holy Spirit confirms it (Romans 8:16). You have an inner witness—a settled assurance that you belong to God. Not based on feelings, but Spirit-given confidence.

5. You persevere in faith (1 John 2:19). You don't quit when faith gets hard. You stumble, but you don't abandon Jesus. True believers endure.

If these signs are present, you have biblical assurance. If they're absent, you might have false assurance. Religion without regeneration. Profession without possession.

This isn't meant to create doubt in genuine believers. It's meant to expose deception in false ones. If you're genuinely saved, these signs will be evident—not perfectly, but progressively.

Test yourself. Honestly. Humbly. Prayerfully.

Declaration: "I have biblical evidence of salvation. My life is changing. I obey God. I love believers. The Spirit confirms I'm His. I persevere in faith. I am genuinely saved."

Prayer: "Father, thank You for giving me tests to confirm salvation. Show me if I'm missing any of these signs. I want assurance based on truth, not assumption. Confirm in my heart that I'm Yours. In Jesus' name, amen."
