The Book of Judges

The Book of Judges has a few themes that flow through every story:

One: People are sinful, and our sin puts us in a place where we need rescue.

Two: God sees our struggle and sends rescuers (in this case, we call them judges) to help us.

Three: Those people are often not who you’d expect. Samson was a selfish hot-head. Yet, God still chose to use him. And that same Spirit that gave Samson the strength he didn’t deserve is alive in you today! God knows your whole story, every decision you will ever make, and He still chooses to be with you. When you invite His Spirit to guide you, even small steps of obedience can make a big difference for His Kingdom.

How does knowing that God’s Spirit is already at work in you change the way you see your future?

“God, thank You for Your presence that follows me everywhere I go. There is nowhere I can go where You won’t follow me. And thank You for the incredible work Your Spirit is doing in my heart. Please help me to make the most of the quiet moments, and think about what I can do for Your Kingdom. I can’t wait to see what You do through me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
