Embracing Your True Self: Living in Your Christ-Centered Identity With Jennifer Slattery

DAY 2 OF 30

You are worthy of love.

Melissa winced whenever she heard her therapist say she deserved to receive love. She wanted to believe this, but the words felt false to her wounded soul. She also sensed a part of her didn’t want to embrace Scripture and her therapist’s claims. Initially, this confused her. But through prayer and journaling, God helped her see the fear behind her “inner protest.” Her past wounding made her fear that allowing herself to accept that someone, God included, could truly love her would only bring more disappointment and pain.

Perhaps you can relate. When the people who were supposed to love us harm us, hoping for love can feel risky, and love itself might seem confusing. The Lord understands. He sees our pain and wants to meet us in it and comfort us through it. He speaks healing truth to our bruised souls. This is truth: We are not only worthy of love; we are loved. God, our Creator, loves us deeply, unconditionally, and eternally.

Journal prompts:

How does this truth hit you: You are loved by God Almighty. What might it look like to receive His love? What most challenges your ability to do so? Perhaps write a list of all the reasons you feel unlovable, adding this truth after each: God loves me even when ____________. For example: I’m easily irritated. God loves me even when I’m irritated. End your journal/prayer time asking Him to help you heal and grow in your ability to see yourself as worthy of love.

About this Plan

Embracing Your True Self: Living in Your Christ-Centered Identity With Jennifer Slattery

You’re not insufficient, overlooked, unimportant or unseen. In Christ, you are loved, chosen, called, redeemed, empowered and held close by the One who crafted your every cell, knows your every flaw, sees your potential. Unfortunately, wounds from our past can challenge our ability to view ourselves as the Lord’s beloved. May this 30-day plan remind you of who you are to Christ and in Christ, helping you live with increased confidence and joy.
