Open Handedনমুনা

Who doesn’t like to be told they’ve done a good job? There’s nothing like hearing the words, “Well done,” from a person whose opinion you value. Your boss, your spouse, your best friend, your kids, your coworkers, your parents—when the people you admire take the time to see your efforts and tell you how good they are, it really checks a box, doesn’t it? Think about just how much more valuable it is when God Himself shares those words with us! In Jesus’ parable, we see that God values our efforts to give and serve others. It’s not what we do, how we do it, or even how often we give that counts in His eyes. Rather, it’s the open hands and open hearts with which we approach the opportunity to give that matter to God.
So, the next time you step out to serve someone generously with anything you have—time, talents, resources, and even funds—check your heart. Ask yourself, “Am I coming with open hands and a heart that just wants to make an impact?” If the answer is a resounding, “Yes!” then you can trust that God is pleased with your efforts. You can trust that He’s looking at how you’re serving with an open heart and saying, “Well done!”

About this Plan

The truth is, no matter who you are, you have something to give in service to others. The problem? Those are often the things we tend to close our hands around the tightest. But what if that wasn’t the way life was meant to be lived? This devotional is going to talk about what an open-handed life really looks like, lived out—because generosity is about so much more than giving something away.
