Sometimes it can be easy to count ourselves out when it comes to generosity. To believe that we have nothing to give, not enough to make a difference, little even to take care of ourselves. Even if our hearts desire to give as God calls us to give, we may struggle to open our hands because we don’t think it will be enough—both for us and for those receiving our gifts. But Scripture reminds us that God isn’t keeping score or managing our financial giving records. No, God is pleased not by the total we donate, or the amount we give, or even the measurable impact our gifts make. God is pleased by our hearts when we make a step toward generosity in response to His leading. God is pleased with the good we do for others in His name. God is pleased when we lay down what is ours for someone else. God is pleased when we trust Him enough to sacrifice even just a little of what we have for ourselves to give it to someone else.
Today, memorize Hebrews 13:16. Let this be your compass to guide your giving and remind you that all generosity, if done with the right heart, is pleasing and good to God.

About this Plan

The truth is, no matter who you are, you have something to give in service to others. The problem? Those are often the things we tend to close our hands around the tightest. But what if that wasn’t the way life was meant to be lived? This devotional is going to talk about what an open-handed life really looks like, lived out—because generosity is about so much more than giving something away.
