The Promise of Heaven by Dr. David Jeremiahনমুনা

Your Work Will Not Be Boring
Perhaps the main reason people think heaven will be boring is that they believe they will have nothing “constructive” to do—no meaningful work. But that’s not the case. Heaven is not a place of endless idleness. It is a place of joyful activity and meaningful service.
One of the most consistent themes running through the book of Revelation is that of serving God. From beginning to end, heaven is described as a realm where God’s people continue to serve Him:
“Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them” (Revelation 7:15).
“Then a voice came from the throne, saying, ‘Praise our God, all you His servants and those who fear Him, both small and great!’” (19:5).
“And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him” (22:3).
When we enter heaven, we won’t be put on some kind of divine Social Security list. No, listen to this welcoming speech (and promise) from the Lord Himself: “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord” (Matthew 25:23).
That verse surely doesn’t sound to me like we’re going to be sitting around doing nothing forever in heaven. It doesn’t sound like retirement, but a promotion! In other words, eternal life is not a break from work; it is a breakthrough to better work. It is purpose without pressure, service without fatigue, and joy without end.
There are two things against which we all revolt. One is work that is tedious and meaningless or encumbered by a difficult working environment. The other is idleness and the lack of occupation. But the work that awaits us in heaven will be a delight to the soul.
Heaven itself will be a delight to the soul. It will be filled with excitement. Make no mistake: Our eternal home will be the most thrilling, joy-filled, adventure-packed reality you’ve ever known, multiplied beyond anything you can imagine.
Lord Jesus, thank You for the fulfilling, meaningful work that awaits me when I arrive at my home in heaven with You. Amen.

About this Plan

Nobody likes being bored. Not at work. Not at home. Not anywhere. In our go-go-go culture, it seems like there’s never a good time to be bored. Many Christians believe heaven will be boring—that all we’ll be doing forever is strumming harps, floating on clouds, and polishing streets of gold. Thankfully, that’s not true! Let’s look at seven reasons why heaven will not, and could not, be boring.
