The Cure for Envyনমুনা

Understanding Envy
I often misunderstood envy, mixing it up with jealousy. But they are very distinct. Jealousy is the fear of losing what we already have; envy is the resentment of others for having what we do not. Envy doesn’t just want what someone else has; it resents them for having it. At its root, envy is a heart problem: it grows when God Himself is not enough to satisfy us. When our joy is not anchored in Him, we will always compare, compete, and crave.
Envy is dangerous because it shifts our focus away from God’s goodness and blinds us to His blessings in our own lives. Instead of seeing people as those to love, we see them as rivals.
Respond to God’s Word:
Ask God to show you where envy may be hiding in your heart. Write down one area where comparison has stolen your joy, and surrender it to Him.
