Always Remember: 6 Days of Wisdom From Friendsনমুনা

Confident Hope
Humans love to reminisce, don’t we? We remember what our mothers told us when we were kids—we retell inside family jokes, we speak fondly of family no longer with us. Just as often, though, we rehash our biggest hurts and traumas. David, the man after God’s own heart, also looked back on his youth and called to mind adversity, even calamity. Each time he called to the Lord, he seemed confident God would come through again. Was he confident because he was God’s favorite?
Always remember, David’s confidence arose from his hope in God, not in his own perceived favoritism. Because David had kept a close relationship of trust and intimacy with God since childhood, he based his appeals on the blessings he’d already received. When we stop to consider all the times God has provided for us, we find a new confidence in our current situation. Hope wells up in our spirit. Rather than ruminating on our troubles, we can refocus on the times when God stepped in, when we prayed, and our prayers were answered. The Lord is our hope!

Prayer from Kim Crabill:
Father, you are my hope. You are my hope in my career, in my school, and in my family. You are in control of every detail of my life, and I know your heart is to work good for me. I’ve seen your goodness and your power in my life many times before. You always come through for me, and I know my hopes will not be disappointed when I put my trust in you again. In Jesus’ name, amen.
