Standing Strong When Things Go Wrong

Reflection

Would you like to strengthen your relationship with your Heavenly Father? How does your faith hold up when life is hard? Do you dream of holding His hand as you walk through the day? What does praising Him for what you don’t see look like in the trenches? When all you can muster up is “I trust You!”

When I talk about “PaPa”, I’m talking about the One True God. Some call Him Dad, Daddy, or Heavenly Father, but to me, He is my PaPa.

October 9, 2024, at 2:43 a.m. I received the following text from my eldest daughter’s husband: “This is Bilal. We went to the ER last night, and Brooks is now in a room. We may be here for a day or so now. Baby is fine, but Brooks is in a lot of pain. They don’t have any idea yet.”

As the clock ticked away, the minutes began to add up quickly, and I could feel the enemy banging on my heart’s door as he shouted out, “She’s dead!” “You lost Brooks!” Why did you have your phone on silent?” “You are selfish!” “How will Rivy grow up without her mother?”

“PaPa!” I cried out as tears streamed down my cheeks like a huge waterfall. I need YOU! Please pick me up and hold me so close to Your heart that I can hear it beating. At that moment, I felt my PaPa’s love wash over me. Suddenly, I felt His calming peace wrap around me like a warm blanket. I was in a familiar place – in my PaPa’s embrace. His joy filled up my spirit – I was at home!

What situation are you facing right now that has taken your breath away? You just need enough breath to call His name. He will meet you right in the middle of the storm. When it's difficult to stand strong, reach for His hand, He's got you!
