In The Miraculous Breakthrough Formula, we describe three key parts to a biblically proven formula:

1. Bible Study - how God connects with us.
2. Prayer - how we connect with God.
3. Fasting - how we disconnect with the world.

If you’re like me, you try to pray as much as you can. You may try to read your Bible as much as possible. But fasting? That’s a less common spiritual discipline.

Fasting - abstaining from food for spiritual purposes - is a discipline you find the great men and women of the Bible practicing, from Moses to Esther to Jesus Himself. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus doesn’t say “IF you pray and fast” but “WHEN you pray and fast” (Matthew 6:16).

In Matthew 17, the disciples were dumbfounded about why after seemingly doing the right things to cast out demons, they failed. In verse 21, Jesus responded, “but this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” It’s evident that there is immense power when we fast! Why?

When we disconnect from the world, we can connect more intimately with God!
