How To Stop Worrying

DAY 4 OF 5

Scary Storms When a storm rolls in, it can be sunny and fine one moment, dark and treacherous the next. Wind and hail destroy trees you thought would last forever. Ice covers every surface and makes something as simple as walking down the street almost impossible. When a difficult time rolls into your life, it feels just like a storm. One day, everything seems okay, the next, your parents let you know they’re splitting up. One day, you’re healthy and strong, the next, you get a serious injury that means your favorite sport is out of the question. It feels like everything you knew is now broken and everything that used to be easy is now difficult. Where is God when there are storms around us—literally and figuratively? Watch this video to learn about a time when Jesus found His friends in a storm. Jesus was right there! He was in the storm—and He calmed the storm with a command for peace. Wow! Isn’t that amazing? The same Jesus who made the wind and waves be still can make the storms inside you be still, too. Ask yourself: How can I learn to stop fearing the storms around or inside me and look for Jesus in the middle of the storm, instead? Challenge yourself: If you’re going through a storm, reach out to someone you trust and ask them to pray for you. If you know someone who’s going through a storm, reach out to them and ask them how you can help. Most of all, remind yourself and anyone you know, that Jesus is there in the middle of the storm with you. Pray: Dear God, thank You that You don’t leave us alone in our struggles. You’re there with us! You’re able to calm our fearful, stormy hearts. And You’re even able to work miracles of peace in the most difficult situations. Thank You for Your presence. In Jesus’ name, amen.
