As soon as supper was over, Jesus took one more opportunity to give them an illustration of what true power, true authority & true servanthood look like.
Jesus, chose the towel over the Title……..when He should have been the one receiving ministry, He elected to minister to others. This was going to be the most painful night of His Life.

Then He said, follow My example:
Then He explained why He did this…….
Jn. 13:16-17 Ampc
I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, A servant is not greater than his master, and no one who is sent is superior to the one who sent him.
17 If you know these things, blessed and happy and to be envied are you if you practice them [if you act accordingly and really do them].

There are great benefits in serving people………

Verse 17 If you know these things, blessed and happy and to be envied are you if you practice them [if you act accordingly and really do them].

1st--- Serving others by taking the towel actually puts me 1st.
When I put myself last & others 1st, I become 1st in the Kingdom.

Matt 20:16 Last shall be 1st & the 1st shall be last.

2nd – taking the towel helps me fulfill my calling. Jesus declares that we ought to serve one another as He has served us.

3rd – When Jesus came to Earth, He gave up His reputation (His title), took the form of a bondservant & came in the likeness of men in order to reach us.
What is the Motivation of Your serving?

You are not working for or serving God for acceptance today. You are already completely accepted and approved of in the Beloved.

Those who walk in love serve the Lord out of thankfulness for what God has already done. Those who serve out of fear are trying to get God’s blessing or avert God’s judgment.
The motivation of love rests in what’s already been done. The motivation of fear is predicated on the assumption that the verdict has yet to be decided. Love rests. Fear frets.
Religion focuses on outward actions, but Christianity focuses on the heart.
Religion is all rules and regulations, while Christianity is all about relationship with actions as a fruit, not a root, of that relationship.
