Intro
About the Book of Micah
Micah lived in Israel's southern kingdom, Judah. He was a prophet. He spoke God's messages to Israel's people between about 740 BC and 686 BC. The prophet Isaiah also spoke messages from God to Israel's people at that time.
After King Solomon died, the nation of Israel became two kingdoms. The kingdom in the north was called Israel. The kingdom in the south was called Judah. Israel's capital city was Samaria. Judah's capital city was Jerusalem.
In this book, Micah speaks God's messages to the people of Samaria and the people of Jerusalem. He tells them that God is angry with them because they have refused to obey him. So God will cause enemies to attack them. But Micah also speaks about good things that God has promised. God has promised that one day he will bring his people back to worship him. God's chosen king would rule over his people and he would take care of them.
