Since we’re surrounded by such a huge cloud of witnesses, let’s throw off everything that weighs us down and any sin that gets in our way. Let’s keep on running the race on the course in front of us. And let’s keep looking to Jesus. He’s the one who leads us into faith and the one who makes our faith mature. Because of the joy he was looking forward to, he didn’t let the shame of being put to death on a cross stop him. He suffered on the cross, and then he sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

No discipline seems pleasant at the time. Instead, it seems painful. But later on it produces a harvest of godliness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Try your best to live at peace with everyone. Do everything you can to be holy, because without holiness no one will see the Lord.

Think about how he endured such opposition from sinners, so that you don’t get worn out and give up.

Since we’re receiving a kingdom that can’t be shaken, let’s be thankful, and let’s worship God in a way that pleases him. Let’s worship him with deep respect and wonder

So stay strong during hard times, because God is using them to train you. He’s treating you as his own children. That’s what parents do—they discipline their children.

because our “God is like a fire that burns everything up.”

Our parents disciplined us for a short time as they thought best. But God disciplines us for our good so that we can share in his holiness.
